The mantra, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another,” is prominent in the RV life. Whether you are a full-timer like us or enjoy your rig four times a year, something is constantly breaking.

Our latest issue is our large awning. It’s about 22 feet long and helps keep the motorhome cool when the sun is beating down on it. Sitting under it when it’s not too hot to be outside is a pleasure, too. We haven’t experienced much of that lately. The awning had been making horrible noises when we pulled it in for quite some time. Tommy made an adjustment, improving it some, but it still had issues.

We had a long drive on HWY 71 from South Dakota to Colorado, and it was a horrible road. It was so bumpy that the coffee maker on the counter toppled into the kitchen sink. We didn’t realize that it also jostled the awning open about eight inches. We heard noises that we couldn’t locate, but it was evident that something was wrong. While driving through one of the small towns, a man waved at us and pointed to the motorhome’s roof. We had no idea what he could be pointing at but decided to pull over and inspect the rig as soon as possible.
