Nurturing Young Souls is Key for this Exceptional Camp

Highland Lakes Camp is Amazing! Every Kid Should Experience a Place Like This

Instead of blathering about today’s work, I wanted to tell you about this fantastic camp. Highland Lakes Camp was founded in 1954 on the shores of Lake Travis. It’s in Spicewood, Texas, 35 miles west of Austin. It is situated in a very secluded area. You need to drive 30 miles to the grocery shop. Happily, the Light House Restaurant, where the camp director treated us to dinner yesterday, is only a ten-minute drive.

The camp employees and our volunteer group took up the entire lake-view side of the restaurant. Between the employees and their kids, there had to be 45 people. It was great that Norman, the camp’s fantastic director, included our RVICS group in their dinner get-together. The staff at the restaurant did a great job of taking care of us all in a timely fashion.
