Oregon 2023 (This is One Trip We Don’t Want to Repeat!)
Mosquitos, rattlesnakes, mechanical issues, and dusty roads ahead.

I began writing this post having no idea how the tale would end. We were waiting for a mobile technician to drive 112 miles from Boise, Idaho, to see if he could find the trouble with our motorhome. The story will lead to why we experienced engine difficulties.
We weren’t looking for an Oregon holiday. We just needed to drive through it on our way to Idaho. We planned to visit with our good friends in Idaho Falls before heading to Colorado Springs for the Fire and Glory Tour tent crusade. It’s an exciting event igniting patriots and Christians to do their part to take back America. I looked forward to attending for weeks, but it wasn’t meant to be.
After leaving Weed, California, our first stop in Oregon was a one-nighter in Klamath Falls. It was a last-minute decision because we originally planned to drive a lot further. My husband’s eyes have been giving him trouble, and when he has to drive for long distances, his eyes burn, and he can’t see very well. Not only would the 75-mile trip be easier on Tommy’s eyes, but we could squeeze in a visit with our daughter.
Jean works in Klamath Falls and commutes there from her home in Chiloquin, Oregon. I texted her, apologizing for the late notice and asking if she could meet up with us for a visit. She was thrilled. She said she got off work at 4:00 and would love to have grandma’s famous tacos, a family favorite. A plan was hatched to stop at the Walmart in Klamath before heading to the Klamath Falls Fairgrounds, where we were going to spend the night.

We got to the fairgrounds at noon, only to find out they were closed for lunch until 1:00. We didn’t have a reservation because their website said it was first come, first serve. I walked all over looking for the campsites but only saw a couple of RVs in a field with generators going. Since it would be an hour before anyone showed up at the office, I decided to call the KOA about two miles away. The extra $50.00 be damned. We needed to get settled.
