Nothing Feels Better Than Giving Back

Volunteering at a Christian camp was a fantastic way to start the year

I used Canva to make this collage.

We spent 23 days at the Highland Lakes Christian Camp and Conference Center. We joined our friends Kathy and Carl, whom we worked with in Florida last year and three other amazing couples. I’m sure we’ve made new friends for life. 🫂❤️🫂❤️ There is nothing like the comradery of a group working for Jesus. Doing good with our retirement years is a blessing in so many ways.

We ladies got to spend more time together than the fellas. They were on multiple jobs of every kind all over the camp. With numerous cabins, bunk houses, conference centers, and houses for workers on the property, there will always be work to do at Highland Lakes Camp. We may have to return when the pool and zipline are open. There were a lot of fun things that we didn’t get to enjoy because of the cold weather.

Texas was a lot colder than we expected. 🥶 It’s the first time in four years that we weren’t in Florida for the winter. It got down to 29 degrees in the sunny state while we were there last year. It warmed up quickly, though, and never stayed cold for days. It was freezing most of the time in Spicewood. It got down to 16 degrees; some days, the high was only 32…
